As the world navigates and adapts to what we now know as a new normal, it is important that together, we strive towards a greener future — through promoting environmental sustainability as well as actionable plans towards recovery.
Put succinctly by Greenpeace International (2021), this global health crisis has shown us that what we had previously understood to be our ‘normal’ way of life was wrought with problems. We all have, in differing degrees, witnessed how unsustainable actions have given rise to various threats over the last few years — forest fires have been on the rise, and different parts of the world are seeing widespread marine die-off. In keeping our vision of a greener, healthier earth and adopting better practices, we emerge stronger into our new and different circumstances.
Given that mobile usage and active screen time has been on the rise, we designed and prepared wallpapers that were created with the intention to raise greater awareness. According to a Straits Times article (2017), Singaporeans spend over 12 hours on gadgets daily, and mobile phones account for the most time spent. By having these meaningful messages transformed into aesthetic wallpapers that cover the screen, they serve as reminders that are always within easy and clear sight, and they are constantly reiterated and emphasised. Moreover, the use of aesthetic mobile wallpapers with inspirational quotes have been on an upward trend, particularly amongst the younger generation.
For these wallpapers, we wanted to feature some of the most beautiful natural wonders in the world and incorporate messages and quotes that places sustainability in the forefront — so as to inspire people and users to be more mindful and to take action. The concept behind the wallpapers was built on the idea that we can continue to see and experience these beautiful places and fascinating creatures in the world, only if we start being intentional about our every action.
Through embedding these motivating messages and gentle reminders on a visible device, the wallpapers seek to inspire the local community to rethink their relationship with the planet and remind them to take action, albeit through small steps, to protect the earth.
This gentle reminder to love goes out to everyone – which is why we have made these meaningful wallpapers available for all to download on our Instagram and Pinterest pages.
